114ft abseil for charity
*
ABOUT 30 Oxford United fans and fundraisers took part in a 114-feet abseil of the south stand of Kassam Stadium, Oxford, to raise £7,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Joe Bennett, 42, a lifelong United fan from Berinsfield, pictured, who raised £140, said: "I loved it. Not many people can say they've stood on the roof of the Kassam and abseiled off. "I did it for my good friend and mentor Brian Mitchell, who died last September. "Almost everyone in their lives knows someone who has suffered from cancer, and it's horrible."
